Ezana

   King of Axum (q.v.) who was a contemporary of Constantine I (q.v.). He issued cross-inscribed gold coins at a weight equivalent to the solidus (q.v.). During this same period a certain Frumentius, consecrated by Athanasios (q.v.), became the first serious missionary to Axum.
